Character Generator on Hold For Now

StoryDev Character Generator has been in the works in a new form and while I have been busy working on it, I have observed the data flow for the current version and iteration of the software.

In all honesty, the data speaks for itself. There have been some downloads of the Demo but none have translated to sales. The Winter Sale was very clearly a disaster and despite the near £1,500 investment in Character Generator at this point, this money went down the drain. Things are not looking healthy for this project.

However, that doesn't mean it is the end. Far from it. In many respects, this represents an opportunity.

In the meantime, my employer and I are in a legal dispute over software I have developed for the company and this could represent an opportunity to build something that becomes a far greater asset to StoryDev than Character Generator. This means that Character Generator will no longer be my main focus as I will be working on this other project. But I will still be thinking about Character Generator, as I've always wanted to make a game and I will never stop thinking about it.

My passion is in programming, sure. But my heart wants to make a game.

But as is with all things that come to fruition, you must start working on a project you need to do before you start working on the project you want to do. It pains me to say that I must focus all my energy and time in working on this other software, but I won't be forgetting about Character Generator.

It would have been nice to have seen the financial support, particularly now since I'm being forced to involve lawyers of my own in this legal dispute on intellectual property rights ownership, but it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and it is not like I can't support myself in this legal fight to protect my rights to the software I've made.

In any case, I will keep you all updated on the news and progress of this other software.
